If   3x  +  2   =   11 ,  what is the value of   2x  -  1  ?

       Solve for x :                               3x  +  2   =   11

       First, subtract 2 from both sides:          3x   =   9

       Then, divide both sides by 3:                  x   =   3

                      one answer, but it has another step.


      The question asks for the value of  2  x  -  1
                                                       2 (3)  -  1    .
